About

Great discoveries in plant
science start with a single modified gene.

▫ Experienced in both basic and applied research, I specialize in plant science with a strong background in molecular biology and genetic engineering. My training at Ohio State University involved extensive collaboration and hands-on research in enzymatic manipulation of DNA/RNA, PCR, CRISPR-Cas9 cassette construction, E. coli and Agrobacterium transformation, protein expression and purification, SDS-PAGE, and molecular blotting techniques. I’m also skilled in tissue culture, confocal and compound microscopy, enzyme assays, and the development of CRISPR-edited transgenic rice and duckweed plants.

▫ In addition to lab expertise, I have strong communication skills, with experience presenting to both scientific and general audiences. I’ve mentored and supervised graduate and undergraduate students, and hold a Ph.D. in Environmental & Plant Biology, an M.S. in Plant Biology, and a B.S. in Plant Biology.
